CK to become homeless too… (08/03/17)

As of the 31st 2017 May Christian Kitchen will themselves be homeless. The Christian Kitchen has been operating within Waltham Forest for over 25 years, and for the past 4, the charity which runs entirely from the donations and support of the local community, has been based at a Hostel on Forest Road, In a letter issued from the Trustees of the Hostel, the Christian Kitchen has been told the Hostel would be expanding their services with the appointment of a Life Skills Support Worker and would therefore require total access to their kitchen.

In turn leaving nowhere for the CK to prepare the 3-course hot meal they serve to over 60 homeless people every night, 365 days a year.

The search for a new kitchen and storage space in close proximity to Mission Grove now begins, this is the soup vans location for serving food to those who most need it.

Trustees of the CK are positive they will find somewhere to fit their needs; “The Christian Kitchen is a robust charity, and provides a service which unfortunately in this day age is required. We have been through muddier waters before, and with the help from our supporters we will find somewhere, which may prove to be even better than what we have been using for the past four years; here’s to our next chapter” Trustee, Jennifer Booth
